Year in review

What a year it’s been for us as a Loma Linda University Health family. We experienced so many successes and triumphs, as well as addressed challenges together. New Year's Baby 2023

One of the first babies born at LLUH in 2023 was Jeremiah, born January 1, 2023, at 12:18 a.m. in the San Manuel Maternity Pavilion.

World’s smallest pacemaker

In January, the heart team at LLUMC–Murrieta implanted the world’s smallest FDA-approved pacemaker. Dr. Harit Desai, associate director for the cardiac catheterization lab and structural heart intervention program, holds the device.

Children’s Hospital Gala

The 30th anniversary Foundation Gala at the Riverside Convention Center in April raised more than $1.1 million to support the patients of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.

Heart Month

Heart care teams and staff celebrated Heart Month in February.

University Open House

Potential students from the surrounding region got to see the university up close and visit with professors—and score some free merch!

Hinshaw Towers renaming

David B. Hinshaw Jr., MD, right, with LLUH President Richard Hart, MD, DrPH, at the August celebration of the renaming of the legacy cloverleaf towers to the Hinshaw Towers in honor of his late father, who served as a prominent LLUH administrator over several decades.

Rehab 40th Anniversary

In September, leadership, faculty, and students gathered to celebrate Loma Linda University Health’s Rehabilitation 40 years of service at East Campus. Its growth through the decades has been indispensable to transforming lives through education, healthcare, and research.

University welcome-back bash

Students were treated to yummy goodies on the lawn following chapel as the new school year got underway.

Blue Zone

Loma Linda University was featured in the new Netflix documentary “Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones.” The four-part series, hosted by author and researcher Dan Buettner, highlights the world’s blue zones — geographic regions of the world where people live longer, healthier lives.

Pink Ribbon Month

Staff gathered on the lawn in October to mark Pink Ribbon Month, the breast cancer awareness initiative.

Cops for Kids Fly-In

Southern California law enforcement officers joined forces with aviation and air support programs to create a memorable day for patients and their families at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital in November.

Loma Land

In November, Children's Hospital unveiled Loma Land, an interactive digital experience wall in the hospital lobby that combines technology and art. Donors wanted to offer this first-of-its-kind initiative within a hospital setting.
