pregnant mom on bed being examined by female doctor and nurse

The San Manuel Maternity Pavilion in the new hospital facility is now open, bringing expanded care to the region’s most vulnerable mothers and babies through state-of-the-art technology and private patient rooms.

Tiare Evans, MD, an attending OBGYN at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, is one of the incredible physicians dedicated to quality care in the new space. After receiving her medical degree at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and finishing her residency at the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Evans says she was inspired to pursue a career as an OBGYN because she is passionate about the care of her patients.

“Getting to serve a couple becoming a family is such a privilege and is so special,” she says. “But as an OBGYN, my field is also very broad. I take care of women at all stages of life, from pediatric to adolescent, to geriatric patients as well.”

Evans says she cares for a whole range of issues, from pregnancy and gynecological concerns to contraception or concerns about the urinary tract — as an OBGYN, she cares for it all. Her day-to-day responsibilities include seeing her patients at clinic — one of her favorite parts of her day — having shifts at the hospital in labor and delivery, covering gynecology, performing hysterectomies, as well as teaching the next generation of doctors. “I spend a good portion of my time teaching residents and medical students,” she says. “Which I find to be very rewarding.”

Evans says the OBGYN team at Children’s Hospital is special because of their kindness and dedication. “You’ll never meet a nicer group of doctors who are more dedicated to their patients than this team,” she says. “It is the coordination of care coupled with our abilities. Our teams work seamlessly together to provide quality care to our patients, whether we are consulting with the NICU or consulting with maternal fetal medicine, we have the best doctors here.”

Evans says she’s excited to be working in the new San Manuel Maternity Pavilion because the facilities were designed specifically with moms and babies in mind. The entire fifth floor of the new hospital is dedicated to the space, with 44 licensed OB beds, 11 labor and delivery rooms, three c-section rooms, and nine triage rooms.

“The care we provide is going to continue to be excellent,” Evans says. “But now, the facility matches the team. With the state-of-the-art technology, beautiful and private patient rooms and large operating room, it’s an amazing space.”

Evans says she wants moms to know that Children’s Hospital is unlike anywhere else. “You couldn’t find higher quality care,” she says. “If you want to deliver a baby, this is the place to do it — for both you and your baby.”
