Loma Linda University Medical Center and East Campus hospitals received their 10th and 11th consecutive “A” safety ratings, respectively, from the Leapfrog Group for fall 2023. This national distinction recognizes Loma Linda University Health’s achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error in the hospital.

"Leapfrog’s national recognition reflects the commitment our team members exhibit in prioritizing the well-being and safety of our patients and their families," said Trevor Wright, CEO of Loma Linda University Health hospitals. "Each member of our dedicated staff plays a distinct role in nurturing the atmosphere, and their contributions remain pivotal as Loma Linda University Health steadfastly upholds its mission to provide nationally acclaimed care within our region."

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
