Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital and Medical Center-Murrieta have been recognized in the California Department of Healthcare Access and Information’s (HCAI) 2025 Maternity Care Honor Roll. This list, created in collaboration with the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) and CalHospitalCompare.org (CHC), recognizes hospitals for providing high-quality maternity care while driving continuous quality improvement.

“Providing compassionate care for all maternity patients, prioritizing quality, safety, and equity, is central to our mission at Loma Linda University Health,” said Anthony Hilliard, MD, CEO of Loma Linda University Health Hospitals.  “We are proud to be recognized once again for our commitment to these values in both low-risk and high-risk obstetric care, as this dedication leads to the best possible outcomes for mothers and their newborns.”

Over 198 hospitals participated in this year’s California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative's Maternal Data Center, and 82 were named to the 2025 Maternity Care Honor Roll. Children’s Hospital is one of 18 hospitals that have maintained honor roll status for 10 consecutive years, and Loma Linda University Medical Center–Murrieta is one of 46 that has achieved honor roll status for the past three years.

Both hospitals received superior performance recognitions, meaning they met or exceeded the performance standards for all five maternal health metrics — nulliparous term singleton vertex (NTSV) C-section, surgical site infection after a C-section, vaginal birth after a C-section (VBAC), episiotomy, and early elective deliveries prior to 39 weeks of gestational age.
