"Receiving this recognition is a testament to our team's commitment to delivering exceptional stroke care," said Vincent V Troung, MD, medical director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Loma Linda University Medical Center. "This award is not just about meeting guidelines — it's about ensuring every patient receives the highest quality of care when they need it most in the quickest time possible."

Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the United States, respectively, according to the American Heart Association. Studies show that adherence to treatment guidelines can improve patient outcomes and recovery.

"A stroke can affect anyone, at any time — which is why awareness, prevention, and timely treatment are critical," said Ricardo Olivo, MD, medical director of the Stroke Program at LLUMC–Murrieta.

"Our team is committed to delivering exceptional stroke care and strengthening our program to meet the growing needs of our community."

The Get With The Guidelines® program is the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's nationwide hospital-based quality improvement program. By sharing the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, Get With The Guidelines® equips and ensures patient care aligns with the latest evidence and research-based guidelines.

To qualify for Get With The Guidelines® awards, organizations must demonstrate consistent dedication to providing quality care for cardiovascular disease patients as well as a commitment to patient education — supporting recovery and health management beyond their stay.

"These awards show Loma Linda University Health's commitment to caring for those in their community who need cardiovascular care," said Donald Lloyd-Jones, past volunteer president of the American Heart Association and current volunteer chair of the Association's Quality Oversight Committee. "By following the American Heart Association's quality improvement protocols, Loma Linda University Health can help realize our shared vision of improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions, and lower mortality rates — a win for health care systems, families, and communities."
