Loma Linda University Health leaders, physicians and government officials celebrated the opening of a Pediatric Urgent Care in Fontana with a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday, September 29, marking an effort to expand services to children in the broader Loma Linda community.  

Children in the Fontana area will now have access to the same quality service and whole-person care delivered throughout Loma Linda University Health entities. 

The new clinic consists of a triage room, 15 exam rooms, and two treatment rooms, where pediatric patients will be provided with initial evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening conditions, as well as episodic illnesses. Standard X-ray services and a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities are also available to facilitate comprehensive and cost-effective care.  

Chad Vercio, MD, division chief of general pediatrics at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, said the clinic will provide treatment for children experiencing a variety of conditions, including cold or flu symptoms, eye redness, headaches, allergies, asthma, and sports injuries. Sports physicals are also available. 

“Our goal is to provide families with a trusted, convenient resource for pediatric care, ensuring children receive the right treatment at the right time in a compassionate and child-focused environment,” Vercio said.  

LLUH will have new tool available at this location, called "On My Way" in MyChart, that allows parents and patients to notify the urgent care that they are coming. Patients are always triaged and seen based on clinical priority to ensure safe and effective healthcare. 

The event was attended by California State Assemblymember James Ramos and Fontana Mayor Acquanetta Warren. 

Ramos, who represents Fontana along with other communities throughout San Bernardino County, praised the new addition. 

"I am so grateful for Loma Linda’s continued commitment to creating accessible healthcare in the communities we serve,” Ramos said. “This new clinic will enable children in Fontana and surrounding areas to receive the quality and timely care they deserve.” 

The Fontana Pediatric Urgent Care will begin accepting patients in early 2027.
