Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH) patients were treated to an afternoon birthday party for mascot Luke the Lion Monday, June 20.

Luke took a break from the campus transformation project to join the construction themed party to celebrate with patients. Members of the Big Hearts for Little Hearts Loma Linda Guild hosted the annual celebration, supplying yellow hats, orange cones and even construction themed crafts and books. Patients and siblings got to choose an age appropriate book and a teddy bear to take home.

LLUCH patient Shawn Grace, 4, enjoyed meeting Luke the Lion and making crafts with his mom and child life specialists.

All LLUCH patients received a balloon with an invitation to join the party. Those who were not able to leave the units got a construction craft kit delivered to their rooms so they could still get creative and join in the construction birthday fun.
