Interior work continues

Furniture for the future hospital arrives outside the Childrens Emergency Department.

Work on Loma Linda University Health’s future hospital continues on much of the interior of the facility, with some work areas starting to near completion.

Furniture delivery and installation began in early January. The Children’s emergency department drop-off and parking areas are being used for delivery and staging. Delivery crews pick up the appropriate pieces from the staging area and deliver to the designated floor. From there, installers take the furniture pieces to the appropriate room, where it’s assembled and installed.

In total, there are 1,487 rooms that will receive new furniture during this process. Pieces being installed include:

  • 603 Desks
  • 1191 Task Chairs
  • 465 Patient Room Recliners
  • 254 Patient Room Sofas
  • 204 Patient Room Sleeper Chairs

Finishing touches to the galleria include wall coverings and a number of sculpted wood panel strips installed on the south wall. And as visitors leave the Galleria to reach the Children’s Hospital tower elevators they will be surrounded by a glass wall covered with vivid flower designs. The floral design concept will be repeated in other areas of the Children’s Hospital.

We're sharing photographic updates of the hospital construction work on a periodic basis. Watch for special emphasis on some of the behind-the-scenes-views and untold stories at the Vision 2020 website.
