Walter’s Children’s Charity Classic donates nearly $300,000 to Children’s Hospital

Walter’s Children’s Charity Classic (WCCC) successfully raised $290,000 at its 26th annual golf tournament to support Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. The WCCC committee and its founders Steve and Cathy Kienle presented a check to hospital administration and staff in the Walter’s Children’s Charity Classic Play Room on March 9. 

The hospital's leadership expressed their gratitude to Walter’s Auto Group for their 27 years of generosity to Children’s Hospital, noting the donation will have a significant impact on young patients.

“I couldn't be more grateful for the work that you do and the passion that you bring to support Children's Hospital,” said Peter Baker, senior vice president and administrator of Children’s Hospital. “Over 70% of our patients are from underserved communities and our mission is to serve those populations, but we can't do it without what you do and bring to our Children's Hospital.”

The representatives from Walter’s expressed their delight at being able to make a meaningful contribution to the hospital's work and emphasized the importance of supporting the health and well-being of children in the community.

Walter's has raised more than $6 million over the past two decades and has funded critical areas within the hospital including the cardiac intensive care and neonatal intensive care units, the pediatric intensive care unit, the child abuse protection center, the emergency department, the craniofacial specialty team center, hematology and oncology, and acute care.

This donation will be used to support the Walter’s Children’s Charity Classic Play Room in the Dennis and Carol Troesh Medical Campus, and LLU Children’s Hospital’s ongoing efforts to make breakthroughs in clinical care, education, and research.
