Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital welcomed its first newborns of the 2026 New Year at the San Manuel Maternity Pavilion, marking the start of the year with new life and celebration.
Baby Josephine Rose McGillicuddy was born at 1:30 a.m. on January 1 to proud parents from Riverside, California. Arriving earlier than expected at approximately 33 weeks, Josephine Rose is currently receiving specialized care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Nurses and care teams are closely monitoring her progress and providing attentive, compassionate care to support her early arrival and continued growth.
Just minutes later, the New Year’s celebration continued with the birth of baby Juan Silva-Ochoa, born to proud parents from Perris, California. His arrival added to the excitement of the early morning hours as families and care teams welcomed the hospital’s first babies of the year.
