Dr. Cynthia Tinsley, center, was presented with the Outstanding Clinician Award on Thursday, April 6 at the 30th anniversary Foundation Gala.

Cynthia H. Tinsley, MD, was recognized with the Dr. Leonard L. Bailey Outstanding Clinician Award during the 30th anniversary Foundation Gala on April 6, 2023.

Currently the Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care at Children’s Hospital, Tinsley has dedicated three decades to pediatric critical care, and for more than 20 years has served the most critically ill and injured children of the Inland Empire. Tinsley has not only provided outstanding care and compassion to families in their time of greatest need, but she has also advanced the quality of care and support provided to both the patient families and the pediatric residents rotating through Children’s Hospital.

Her selfless dedication to patients, interns, residents, and colleagues, along with her humor, good nature, and positivity, have had a profound impact on Children’s Hospital’s pediatric care family. She teaches interns how to care for the whole patient and the whole family; she is a team member who leads and inspires by example; and her work ethic and intentional acts of kindness are unmatched.

Indeed, Tinsley’s wit, creativity and systems perspective have made her a pillar of resident education at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. Her leadership, coupled with her patience, compassion, and grit, make a difference in the lives of her interns, patients, and patient’s families, and has made her a role model for interns — especially as witnessed through the challenges of a global pandemic.

A highly respected, well-published and much-loved clinician and educator, Tinsley’s legacy at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital will go on for decades.
