Richard Hart awards the Distinguished Humanitarian Award to representative of Stater Bros. Charities and Stater Bros. Markets

Before the Loma Linda University School of Medicine graduates took the stage during the commencement ceremonies Sunday, May 29, recognition was given to those who have selflessly given back Loma Linda University Health.

Stater Bros. Charities and Stater Bros. Markets were honored with the Distinguished Humanitarian Award for their magnanimous gifts that have supported the priorities of Loma Linda University Health.

During the past decade, Stater Bros. Charities and Stater Bros. Markets have donated nearly $12.6 million to the entities of LLUH. Additionally, over $150,000 of in-kind items have provided hope and healing to thousands of children treated at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital (LLUCH). Stater Bros. has also recently committed $1 million toward the philanthropic campaign Vision 2020, specifically for LLUCH.

Nancy Negrette, executive director, Stater Bros. Charities, accepted the award from LLU president Dr. Richard Hart on behalf of Stater Bros. Charities and Stater Bros. Markets.

“Stater Bros. is honored to receive the prestigious Distinguished Humanitarian Award from Loma Linda University,” stated Jack H. Brown, Executive Chairman of Stater Bros. Markets and Chairman Emeritus of Stater Bros. Charities. “For over 80 years, Stater Bros. has believed in giving back to the communities we serve and we are especially privileged to be able to provide support to such a renowned and highly-esteemed medical facility,” Brown continued.

“We owe a great debt of gratitude to those who have benefited Loma Linda University Health,” said Ronald Carter, PhD, LLU provost. “We acknowledge the gifts made by Stater Bros Charities and Markets, measured not just in dollars, but in influence and role in the shaping of pediatric health care.”
