New year’s baby – Children's Hospital

Baby Carter King, born at 12:32 a.m., was the first newborn of the year at the San Manuel Maternity Pavilion to proud parents Alise Bailey and Eric King of Fontana.

Big Air Kids Fair

The 14th Big Air Kids Fair featured a freestyle motocross (FMX) show for patients and staff, where riders performed breathtaking flips and tricks off an 8-foot-long takeoff ramp.

LLU Open House

Loma Linda University welcomed more than 2,000 prospective students and guests offering a firsthand look at the university’s academic programs, student life, and mission-focused education.

First gene therapy treatment by Dr. Abdel Azim

Norah Awad was the first noncancer patient to receive gene therapy using her own cells at Loma Linda University Health, which is also the first hospital in Southern California to deliver the ground-breaking FDA-approved gene therapy.

Children’s Hospital Foundation Gala

The 32nd annual Foundation Gala raised $1.3 million in support of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.

Kidney transplant chain reunion

Three couples met for the first time after participating in a living kidney donation chain, which gave three individuals in need of a kidney a second chance at life.

Children’s Day

Children’s Hospital hosted its 40th annual Children’s Day, welcoming children ages 3 to 8 to explore the world of hospitals, doctors, and dentists in a fear-free environment designed to ease anxieties and build familiarity.

CH Clinics topping off

LLUCH celebrated a milestone with a “topping-off” ceremony for the placement of the final steel for its new Specialty Clinics building. Scheduled to open in 2026, this five-story, 105,000-square-foot facility is set to transform pediatric care in the region.

LLU Commencement Ceremonies

Loma Linda University held commencement ceremonies this spring for all eight of its schools as well as San Manuel Gateway College over two weekends in May and June.

Faculty Medical Clinics Solar Panels

After three years of planning and 18 months of construction, this project of 3,622 solar panels is now fully operational and delivering significant energy cost savings while also reducing the Faculty Medical Clinic’s power-related environmental impact.

Believe Walk event

Loma Linda University Cancer Center was presented with a $225,000 check to support programs, services, and treatment options at the Center. The contribution came from funds raised at the 17th annual Believe Walk.

Cops for kids Fly-In

Sirens, smiles, and helicopter blades filled the air at Children’s Hospital for the 24th annual Cops for Kids Fly-In on the north lawn, followed by a motorcade of police motorcycles, squad cars, and SWAT trucks.

35th anniversary of the James M. Slater, MD, Proton Treatment & Research Center

The first hospital-based proton treatment center was celebrated for its 35 years of pioneering cancer-treating work by the late Dr. Slater and his son, Dr. Jerry D. Slater, which today is emulated by other top hospitals around the world.

40th anniversary of Baby Moses

Eddie Anguiano, aka “Baby Moses,” received the world's first successful infant-to-infant heart transplant at Loma Linda University Medical Center in November 1985.  Forty years after this groundbreaking transplant, Anguiano celebrated the incredible milestone and his 40th birthday at a reunion event with the care team who saved his life.
