Karen Studer, MD, is the principal investigator and program director of the preventive medicine residency program.

Loma Linda University Health Consortium Preventive Medicine residency program received $1.6 million in grant funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) over the next four years effective May 1, 2023.

The money will allow SAC Health System to create three new preventive medicine resident positions and a new preventive medicine rotation that focus on population level metrics, quality improvement, as well as increased diversity and training focused on social determinants of health on a system level.

The residents working at SACH Health System will work directly with Jamie Crounse, MD, MPH, on improving population level metrics.

“We hope that this new rotation opens the door to future career options for our graduates at federally qualified health centers such as SAC Health,” said Karen Studer, MD, MBA, MPH, principal investigator and program director of the preventive medicine residency program. “We continue to work with Loma Linda University School of Medicine and other partners to increase the number of preventive medicine physicians that are minorities underrepresented in medicine.”
