Jeff Sewell, a plein air landscape painter who loves to depict Southern California beaches and the enigmatic landscapes of the American West, will talk about his vision and demonstrate his materials and techniques at the September 11 meeting of the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association. The event will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Loma Loma Linda Senior Center, 25541 Barton Road, in Loma Linda.

Sewell is considered something of a rarity among California landscape painters—many of whom emigrated to the Southland from other parts of the world—in that he is native-born and raised in Orange County. His work has been recognized and awarded in numerous regional and national competitions, and is displayed at the Irvine Museum and on his website:  He serves as Director of Education and Mentorship for the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association.

The public is invited to attend Sewell’s presentation. There is a $5.00 donation, but members of the Loma Linda Cultural Arts Association and students of Loma Linda University may attend free of charge.

“We are excited,” notes Sharan Bennett, president of the association, “to welcome Mr. Sewell to Loma Linda. We look forward to seeing a lot more of his beautiful work.”
